Joe Wiederholt inspired and guided the development
of The WriteTrack when he was a patient undergoing chemotherapy
for colon cancer. Peggy Wiederholt is Joe's wife and a co-author
of the book. The credibility and usefulness of The WriteTrack
not only comes from their personal experience of dealing with
cancer and chemotherapy side effects, but also from their vocations.
Prior to his death from colon cancer, Joe was an accomplished
Professor in the University of Wisconsin Pharmacy School with
research interests in how patients on medications track their
side effects. Peggy was and is an accomplished research nurse
and clinician. Together with the contributions of a team of health
education experts and cancer survivors, the combination of them
"living the process" and their own analytical backgrounds
has led to a very balanced book. Joe's incredible passion to learn
and then teach what he learned, even as a patient, is evident
in the final product. Since The WriteTrack has been provided
in our clinics, I have had patients comment on how helpful and
useful it was for them.
